Old Everton Pictures

Any excuse...

Just dipped in and found this, geat stuff! I was at that match on my own (15) - none of my mates could get a ticket. We played really well and were wearing that great amber and blue away kit. As well as the lids behind the goal where we got the 2nd half goals, we had a big contingent on the side opposite the cameras. I was with a load of Blues in the stand above their old kop end. I think the match was played on the same day as that years Grand National (??) and I won some dosh for a place on the coach 'draw'. :)

Watching Alf Ramsay's plan B against Brazil in 1970 - give the ball to Terry Cooper & watch him lump it up to Jeff Astle - I couldn't help think that there was a certain Everton winger who could flight a cross better & from much nearer the Brazil box than the England no 3, fine player that he was...
It maybe Christmas and the drink has been taken, but that whole 69-70 team would've given the 1970 Brazil team a better game than England did.
Would've had to drop Sandy obvs and christ knows what we would've done for subs, but who cares, they were that good.
Ramsey couldn't do subs to save his life anyway.
