Old Everton Pictures

We did the same with Bernie Wright then Mick Walsh, but Ian Snodin was a different class to that pair - he sadly got a really bad injury and was never quite the same player again, such a shame!
Mick Walsh was signed on the basis he scored the BBC goal of the season for Blackpool in the old second division.
He had never actually played against Everton.
Bought as McKenzies replacement, which was never going to go down well with the fans.
Sold later in his first season to QPR in swap deal for Peter Eastoe, who proved to be a far better stiker.

And the number 4 happens to be Ian Snodin playing for Doncaster.
Signed him 18 months later on the basis of one decent performance.
Typical Everton that
Er...if it was on the basis of one decent performance, why did we wait 18 months to sign him from Leeds United ? Don't forget (if he was that bad) that Liverpool competed with us to sign him...and he chose us. Bit like Howard Kendall that.

Bill in our trophy room in 1998. It’s bare now

As much as it irks me on the goal that Whiteside scored against the Worlds Best Keeper ,it had to be something special.
And so it was,
truly gutted at the time and as fans( that were friends) of man. u. said at the time
It,s took a Devil to stop the Treble.............

I watched Howard’s Way again. Bloody love this club so much!w
Did you love the part about how instead of flying back to London like us fans did, they flew back from Rotterdam to Liverpool to go on the lash when we were 48 hours away from making history, on 3 fronts.
Then didnt have the legs to beat a team who had 10 men for nearly an hour.
Howard Way alright.
Watched it once, wont be watching again.
A team who were on the threshold of being:

The first team on Merseyside to win the English double.
plus the first team in history to win the double an a European trophy in the same season

Nothing to do with Whiteside or the devil.
And to make matters worse, the other lot across the park did it12 months late

Can you find the one of them on the plane drinking champagne
I get where you are coming from but with all due respect this thread is one of the few on this site that is uplifting. We can be masochistic and occasionally post pictures of our many semi final defeats at Villa park, Old Trafford, Maine rd, Elland rd.....but overall its a jolly thread reminding that we were good in the old days.
Its the thread i turn to after another recent defeat to cheer me up
So without wishing to be dictatorial can we possibly keep this thread jolly. There isnt too much else to be jolly about at my age.
Thanking you for listening

Talking of players we signed here is the famous free kick by Roger Ernie Hunt with Willie Carr touching the ball twice with his back flip with his ankles we signed him shortly after this he never lasted long nor did that free kick as it was banned as the free kick taker was deemed to be touching the ball twice....- the chant of Ernie Ernie used to ring out from the Gladys street -

to ring out when he did score though.......
