I was at Leeds when Drew conceded five and I considered him to be one of the men of the match. He was left exposed.

CAN ANY ONE HELP. As the heading shows this is Wainwright scoring a pen v Chelsea. Wainwright played for the Blues 46-56 and Harry Medhurst played in goal for Chelsea 46-52. In my bible I can only find one occasion when Wainwright scored a pen v Chelsea which was 22.1.49 but that was at Goodison. If this is the game why are Everton in the light colours, besides this does not look like Goodison.

That's not Goodison, and that would have been our away strip as they obviously played in blue .... do not be fooled by captions being wrong alaso 1946 was just after the war when many friendlies were set up , and unrecorded that may be the reason no record is in our EFC bibles we were relegated in 1951 - maybe this photo is a friendly game?
as my records are like yours no record of this score at Stamford Bridge and our FA cup runs were dire.... the Catt seemed to like scoring v Chelsea.....in that era.....

Deffo looks like an away game possibly Stamford Bridge Brian,had a look on Everton Results website between 1946-56 and Wainwright didn't score at Chelsea,maybe the info on the photo is incorrect mate?

Dario just went through my EFC bible as posted after the war many friendlies took place maybe it was a photo from one of them as those games never got recorded or even while the war was in progress.... a season did take place mainly where the soldier football sports instructors were based so teams were even mixed teams .....
