True, I'm amazed Dobson even got a game tbh...they soon moved him on for Brooking though
Your face...and the team you play for...has to fit, especially when - as now, the southern press play a big part
Though this time just to prove me wrong, it wasn't a southern softie centric team.

Dobson was a much better player than Brooking. More goals better in the air more aggressive in the tackle. I understand Brooking never even got booked in his career and for a central mid that's a bit pathetic.

Went to all those games
Hungary Brazil...in the pouring rain iirc, was like a Derby - which we won.
N. Korea, how we cheered, first when they went ahead
And finally for Eusebio.
At the end the Portugese keeper wasted so much time running around his area bouncing the ball...as was the rule then. They changed the rules.
It was an honour to see such greats, Der Kaiser, Yashin, Pele, Eusebio, Albert, Pak Doo Ik.

Except for the fiddle the FA pulled on us, leading us on in the initial draw that England, if they qualified, would play their semi final at goodison.
Then once the tickets were sold changing it.

...also always remember Pak doo Ik from that Korean team, they were very decent. Bene, Florian Albert, Torres, Mario Caluna, Garrincha, plenty of great players graced our stadium at that time.

Florian Albert gave possibly the finest performance from a centre forward I've seen that night against Brazil.

...just being reminded of those names makes you realise that standards have fallen. There was real talent in those teams.
