Old Everton Pictures

He always seemed slow on the turn to me, I bumped into him once outside Goodison stright after the game.He was smoking a cigar after the final whistle as he was dropped from the team after a 1-0 defeat walking towards us my brothers mate shouted to him it would have been worse if you had played as you are that slow on the turn......
Also he spoke much later - he was glad about Bally being sold ......
Another player we went for when he was on the decline ....... A good left back at Blackburn and England in his younger days ..
Keith played well for Burnley for a few seasons after he left us, Joey. I agree, though, he did turn slower than the Royal Iris and Bally definitely gave him some stick... a 3-2 loss at Leeds comes to mind.

Bally the great player he was - the Catt should have returned it to Labby as soon as he returned, as even Westy claimed a great player never a captain.......
That game I think Bally had a bust up with the great HK over who was taking a free kick, pushing capt Bally out of the way .....
Bally was the greatest box to box midfielder I have ever seen, but his tempererment was never Captain material- ok in the title run in when we were winning.....

Totally agree Joey. Bally will forever be my Everton hero but he wasn't a captain, at least not at that stage of his career. Didn't Johnny Morrissey once pin him up against the dressing room wall, saying, "Don't you ever do that to me again!" after Bally had bawled him out during a game?
