I was there in the Goodison rd paddock and dead level and it looked ok to me. But I've seen a 5sec clip that appears to show the ball coming in at an angle, Young heading it back accross the goal to Vernon who was Not offside.
Foreign Reff, different offside rules from now and stricter interpretation back then
But on that clip it looked as if Young could've been.

The BBC were at the game and maybe Pathe, anybody with access to their archives could maybe do a trawl?
