Not withstanding Sheffield were; a) a very good team on the up and; b) they always seemed, more often than not back then, to have the wood on us.I was sat right behind that freezing no hot air on your feet in that stand - we got battered in the 2nd half winger Curran , and Woodward flying winger destroyed us a 3 sided ground in those days - a blessing as we went on to win the title....
Never did manage to get one
Rumour is that when the story broke Ramsey called up Harry, basically bricking it, asking advice on a replacement.
One for the dartboard during the long quarantine days ahead
Often forgotten but Jennings was on our books, so two Everton great players in the pic.
Looks like the
Newcastle/Forest replayed game around 1973
Fantastic player, favourite none Everton player when I was a kid.Often forgotten but Jennings was on our books, so two Everton great players in the pic.
No at half time we were the better team1-0 up - injury free we could have won the double that season, the two wingers destroyed us in the 2nd half - the Catt never ever put a full team out to lose a game deliberately when thousands of blues fans turned up for that game,- me included........Not withstanding Sheffield were; a) a very good team on the up and; b) they always seemed, more often than not back then, to have the wood on us.
I did get the impression that collectively - on the day, we weren't too arsed...I didnt see anybody on their knees banging the ground in frustration of - I don't believe it, htf did we lose that.
Harry; 'give it a go lads, but not too hard eh, the leagues the thing' (though in truth it was more than likely Dixon, Eggleston or whoever )
