Stones was not fit to lace John Hurst boots if you know your history......
also one was a midfielder who chipped in with loads of goals.....=Bally them two whelped to win the world cup - I rest my case mlaord seen all four play also.....

But that wasn't the question Joseph

You said:

When will we see two world-class players play in blue in the future?

And while NEITHER were in Alan Ball's stratosphere, they were both world class players. Just as, for example, Richarlison and Digne are.

@orly mentions Stones -player in photo the great John Hurst a centre back pairing with Labby - with an eye for goal the complete player Hursty was - again should have been capped for England - cost us nothing a trainee.....

Joey posted this photo of Latch v Derby (thumbnail) but advises he does not know the year. I usually try to match up photos with videos, either from my collection or from You tube. I Think it may be from his 30 goal season and I have a photo of that goal from another angle which appears to be the same goal. Thoughts anyone.could be 1978 LatchH.webp

Talking of the replay win, there was a midweek programme called Sports Review (?). Now, bear in mind that football on TV in those was very rare. The FACup final was the only live game on TV, and there was as yet no MOTD. So there I am watching the programme and totally out of the blue the presenter (Gerry Lofthouse?) says that there has been a cup replay being played tonight and we can now show you the goals from it. Again, you have to bear in mind that the game wasn't even on radio and there was no other means by which you'd know what the outcome had been. Being under floodlights and with film technology as it was back then, the picture (black and white of course) was somewhat dull and grainy, and the highlights were only a few minutes. But who cared. It was a magical bit of television for me, aged 11.

I remember watch those goals on Sportsnight David Coleman? Guess we must be a similar age, I went into school made up over that win - a red stated you do realise those goals never came as quick as that - typical jealousy..... ;)
