Everton and West Ham fans heading to Elland Road for the 1980 FA Cup semi-final replay
Dave Hickson on the front cover ........they nicked his hair colour, and his famous quiff alledgedly.......
And you know that Brian Kidd could have saved you and me a trip?Oh where did you get that from?
Nightmare memories
I had just moved to work in London and they only way i could afford getting to Leeds was on the West Ham football special.
A truly horrendous experience. Got home at 5 am and had to be in work at 8am
After one of the worst defeats
Didn't work too well, stopped it freezing ok, but you couldn't put a fork in it when it was too wet in case you damaged the wires
It had to be replaced as the wires were too near the surface and were burning the roots of the turf - groundsman in those days probably put it in under instruction knowing that would happen, but they had no clout in those days ...... they had to follow orders from a boffin ......as you pointed out it was dangerous too........not very deep that wiring. Poor groundsman having to dig his fork into the pitch and avoid that lot.
Colin Harvey scored that day ?Andy Rankin, the Everton goalkeeper, saves from Hunt. Liverpool v Everton, final score, 4-0 to Everton. at the pit -19th September 1964 - we had an understengh side and Rankin had a great game -
