That game at the Hawthornes was my first Everton game, (my dad moved down to Birmingham in the 50's). I was 6, and was thought winning the final 2 months later would be a formality. An early lesson in 'Everton that '.9 year old here. Worst thing was we absolutely battered them all game. Remember Jimmy husband missed an absolute sitter. We had beaten then 6-2 at the hawthorns earlier in the season as well.
