I was at Sheff Utd the day Bernie Wright scored his first goal for the blues 1971/72 season .
He was a good 4 and a half foot out and hit an unstoppable shot in off the post.
Those were the days when sheff Utd had a cricket pitch on the right hand side of the away and the locals came down at us On there hundreds while the match was going on .there wasn't many of us that day and it was a bit like Rawks Drift

Great finish from Bernie, definitely his finest moment in a blue shirt. Frighteningly, that's Rod Belfitt in the background so no surprise that we couldn't hang on to the lead Bernie gave us, losing 2-1 with the winner being a magnificent goal from Clyde Best. I think it was in the middle of 6 consecutive defeats for us and you knew you were struggling when even the perennial soft touch that was West Ham could beat you at home.
