I admit that I also criticised Kendall. The football in the early 1980s was not great. Was I wrong or what.
But did anybody really see what was to come.
I think that I started to believe that we had a serious team when Heath...Sharp and Sheedy all started scoring goals.
And our defence (Big Nev...Ratcliffe....Mountfield )tightened up.
Then Reid and Gray came in. And Boom.........we took off.
Honourable mention for Steven and Bracewell also.

But I admit to criticising Howard Kendall in his early days at Everton. For a few seasons he brought in some rubbish. But his footballing vision came good....
Thank God............Up The Toffees....

I watched a bit of Kendall's way today - seen it before tears brimming again -
 


Everton won this match 4-1. Harvey...Hurst ....Husband and Royle scored. Bought that programme a while back.
A few days before that match we were beat 4-3 by Rochdale. We then bought one of their star players . He never played a match for our first team.......
Ps.......sorry.......just reading through these posts. Just seen that the result has already been posted.....

For me the green shoots started in march 1983 in defeat in an FA cup 1/4 final at Old Trafford,our young team were outanding that day.
