There is a story about the Leeds tactic of having Jack Charlton stand on the goal line in front of the keeper to prevent him getting a run at the ball. It was very successful for a while until one afternoon, when playing against Everton, Big Jack took up his position on the goal line and Westy just ran right through him leaving him in a heap and caught the ball. Billy Bremner turned to Jack and said, “that’s the end of that one Jack”.
