Mick Buckley wore the no 7 shirt that's day according to my EFC bible
not in that era!
......might be Emlyn Hughes marking Alan Ball but not certain. If so, both came via Blackpool and I can vividly remember Hughes playing LB against us for Blackpool.
The centre back playing centre forward Watson!
Not his fault got a hat trick just like Kone!
yeah he was signed as a LB for 66K iirc
he was the only one of Ramsey's 1970 WC squad not to get a game...heh, heh, heh.

Brian Labone declined the 66 WC for his wedding too didn't he?....if I remember rightly Gordon West opted out because he didn't want to be away from home for so long.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Labone.....not too sure about that, Groucho. Jack Charlton was first choice, I think the likes of Ron Flowers made the 22 so you might be right. My main doubt surrounds Ramsey and whether such a decision would've meant a player being outcast for good. As we know, Labone played in 1970.
Knew I'd seen it somewhere.Labone played 26 times for England between 1962 and 1970. He withdrew from England's 1966 World Cup squad because of his imminent marriage but played in three of the four games in the World Cup in 1970 in Mexico.
