...that's a great shout, I wasn't aware Hughes was in that squad. Many thought the 70 side was better than 66, it was certainly a magical World Cup in Mexico.

.....not too sure about that, Groucho. Jack Charlton was first choice, I think the likes of Ron Flowers made the 22 so you might be right. My main doubt surrounds Ramsey and whether such a decision would've meant a player being outcast for good. As we know, Labone played in 1970.
