I liked Fred a lot and he gave you 90 minutes every game. We had a song for him, it was called Big John
a hit in the 60s, we changed the name from John to Fred and basically took the piss out of the RS as Fred
stuck a few past them. I would say that he'd just be in the top 20 of our marvellous No. 9s. of all time.

My first Everton hero. Told my mam I could only have Pickerings tinned peas.

...56 goals in 97 games will stand the test of time and worthy of comparison with any era. I did a goalscorers ratio thread a while back & I think only Roy Vernon had a better post-war record than Pickering.
