I think that was my first match at Goodison, with my brother and his mates, on his shoulders at Gwladys Street
I was a teenager in my Doc Martens in the Gladwys street end - first game of a torrid season .....

Alan Ball came within an ace of putting Everton into the lead with the close in shot against Sheffield United (Top) Below; Joe Royle gave goalkeeper John Hope quite a bit of trouble in the challenge, Everton losing 1-0-
