Old Everton Pictures

David Johnson heads the winner for Everton against Liverpool - later to join them via Ipsitch a very costly move for us -

I was there with my mate.. we were only 14 and ended up at the back of Gwladys where there was more room. When the goal went in, all hell broke loose and when it calmed we couldnt stop laughing. Some middle aged woman in a headscarf (as they wore then) was rootin round with her open shopping bag... she'd got in for a nose when the gates were open. All her messages for the Sunday dinner... tins of peas, loose spuds and carrot n turnip had erupted in the melee. We helped her pick it up. I didnt tell blue Ma when I got in.... in case it gave her ideas.

It's a wonder I was able to drive home there were that many tears in mine.
Ranks second only to them robbing us of the double in 86 as the worst I’ve ever felt following us.

I was 14 and had gone across Dublin to see Rovers and Home Farm. I knew from someone with a radio it had gone into Extra time, and that WHU had gone ahead - remember no mobile phones then!

I legged it to the bus to get home for 10.30pm MIdweek Match on ITV, and sat down to watch, only knowing that WHU had gone ahead in ET.

When Latch equalised I exploded, but we were then gutted by Lampard's poxy bobbling goal.

As a 14 year old I didn't do tears, but I couldn't stop them that night.

I share your pain, believe me.
You'd think I'd not fret too much about it having experienced Brian Little doing us at OT in the League Cup 2nd replay in the final minutes. Bit it still does.
Cheers Bluerover, I've got no alternative now to reach for my Bushmills. Far too early good buddy.
