Jimmy Harris was given the mammoth task of replacing the Cannonball Kid, Dave Hickson, in his debut season at Goodison after graduating from the Club’s Academy.
The Birkenhead-born forward got his senior career off to a flier – finishing his debut season as the Blues’ top scorer with 21 goals in all competitions in 1955/56.
A single appearance for England U-23s against Scotland followed, which was marked with a goal to cap off a magnificent season.
Harris was pushed to outside-right when Hickson was re-signed from Huddersfield Town in 1957, but continued to be a regular on the scoresheet.
He was sold to Birmingham City in 1960 in a deal worth £20,000 after scoring 72 goals in 207 appearances for the Blues.
