Stan was the man who created more than 60 goals a season and no way would goal hanger Dean have scored all those goals in later years when laws regarding offside meant half of them would have been scratched due to him spending most of the game swinging from the crossbar lol

Sir Stan was knighted for services to football and communities worldwide. No such an award for the man they called Dixie however :D

When Dixie got his 60 goals (1927/8) he was playing under the offside rules that remained in place until 1990.
 
Amazing that the media virtually as one claimed that sending off to be an incorrect decision -- last defender takes a player off at the knee!!
Reid should have passed the ball square to Sharpy though (who also would have been clean through)-- we'd have been treble winners.........
To be honest,I'd never back Sharpy to have scored on a one on one with the keeper,his best work came when it was spontaneous, and he didn't have a split second to think, and when the ball was in the air of course.
