Any horse racing in the vicinity in those days @Eggs - understand the bar etc :D

It must have been a great experience to see us lift that trophy - on the TV Ron Atkinson stated Peter Reid's performance was world-class in midfield ....

….the associated story was our first born arrived the week before. It didn’t stop me jumping into a mini bus, going to Holland and taking in the FA Cup Final on the way home. Mrs Eggs has never let me forget it but my now grown up daughter fully accepts the situation!!

Everton footballer the GV - Alex Young and Ipswich goalkeeper Hall goes up for a corner kick from which Everton got the ball into the net, but the goal was not allowed, 16th September 1961 in a 5-2 win for us -

Look at the leap from a standing start, his feet are as high as the defenders waist [ he never jumped he hovered and stayed there].

More accurately Everton players plus friends. Great story about how the Beeb didn't allow alcohol back stage but Grey and Reidy told them if they weren't going to provide them with ale they weren't going on. They got supplied.

I remember those shell suits. Handed it on a plate to the comedians who had the archetypal Scouser dressed in them with a conversation to match!!

Hale and Pace in particular .

Two scousers arguing.
Scouser 1 "dee don't doo dee?"
Scouser 2 "dee doo dee doo"
Scouser 1 "dee don't"
Scouser 1 "dee dooo"
Scouser 1 "deee dont"
Scouser 1 "deeee dooooo"
Scouser 1 "deeeeee dont"
Scouser 1 "deeeeeeee doooooooo"
