Actual subs where first used in 1965 ...and only for a player being injured,not tactically.
So did somebody get injured during the kick in..?
Or was is a european game ?;)

Not strictly speaking a trick question.. you just can't remember the unusual circumstances which allowed Everton to name and use a substitute in a senior game before 1965.

Clue 2: British opponents.
 

Yes, special dispensation was allowed for substitutes - the same player was named number 12 for Everton in both legs and came on in the 2nd leg for Jimmy Gabriel.. so who was he?
Was it Temple ill have to get in the loft and look for the programme now!!!
