Hmm, hard working, oh he was that, but so was Young...check out that 1st game of the season in 1967 Vs United. Young was out on the right, but he managed to cover both the Right back and Left back on various occasions, plus kicking lumps of Best when he came out wide...and still score a worldie.
Young was the first to say he had his off days, so I'd swap hard-working for more consistant.
The Saint was a very, very good player which was we 'hated' him and mentioned him by name in the song...we knew how good he was at what he did.
