Lovely photo of two proud Dubs. Carey in fact also played minor (u' 18) Gaelic Football at County level for Dublin, before being scouted from his League of Ireland Club, St James' Gate by Man Utd. Carey captained the Ireland team that beat England 2-0 at Goodison in 1949 - Peter Farrell scored in that game.
John Moores' treatment of Johnny Carey was disgusting. Despite finishing 5th, he took him out in a taxi in which he promptly told him he was sacked.

I would have been paying £1.50 so when i first started travelling in 81. I remember clearly also paying £1.90 for the Street End - probably 83/4/5 and due to inflation.
Chelsea, in Div 2 were already 33% more expensive for terracing than EFC. I remember being in London for a weekend in 84 and going to see Chelsea v West Ham. I remember being shocked at how much higher admission was to the Shed End than the Street- the stands were crazy money as I recall.
