The Great Garth. A travesty he never played for England. The very underrated John Hurst, a great dual centre half with Labby as a former forward could break out of deence and score many times - they raved about John Stones this guy was easily better than him - by a mile -

12000 for the game against Coventry at GP so 15000 was correct.I was there. As you say crowds were low then, but not that low, I think it is a misprint.

That was the game that more or less clinched the title. The GV scoring the only goal.

I remember being at the game with Spurs and Greaves was talking to Ray Wilson at a corner in the Gwladys street end, he had his hands on his hips not interested in what was going on .The ball came across and like lighting he got on the end of the cross and scored, but he was no good at pressing or covering for the full back so by todays standard he was rubbish.Heart in mouth time when Greaves had the ball, same with Denis Law.
I rember Geoff Hurst being asked who was the hardest player he played against , and he named John Hurst and never got an English cap he was only 5ft 10ins the same as me when i was 17teen but was domint in the air.JThe very underrated John Hurst, a great dual centre half with Labby as a former forward could break out of deence and score many times - they raved about John Stones this guy was easily better than him - by a mile -
