The reserves playing the chosen first team was started 1920\30s it may have ended when the reserves disbanded. As a guess - a certain Brian Labone as a young center halve marked Dave Hickson out of the game to work his way into the first team ......
For me these games should continue v the under 23 team plus fringe players .....pre season as it was a great exercise to see how good players were ..,for the season to come .'.
