Lovely photo Joey. It just goes to show what fresh air can do for you, I wouldn't have known Fred. Thanks again Joey.
He was still our highest goal scorer for an age - till the Yak overtook his goal tally & we never did that well in Europe in the mid 1960s -

Boomer Pickering he was called because when he hit the old style ball - he hit it so hard the Boom noise became his nickname by the EFC players - his attributes upfront as a traditional no 9 - he had everything, & was a goal machine 1966 scored in every round till we played the other lot over the park in a league game & he landed awkward on his knee in a challenge with yard dog Yeats & that injury kept him out not the same player after that - he missed the semi final & the final & was sold on to Notts Forrest, & Blackpool where he did more than OK @TangerineToffee can tell you .....

Loved that, Cruffesque, with a Charltonesque body swerve in the same move. great pass and he did a great slide rule pass earlier to Stevens too. So impressive ‘again’. I often see the comparison with Greaves/Law, but I see a lot of Charlton In his game- the passing, shooting, and the aforementioned body swerve, similar to that of The Divine Baldy.

The 1962-63 champs seems a bit underrated these days, but if I was alive I’d have preferred to watch its forward line over the 1969-70 version, myself.
