Very good point. I think the fact that the OG was a main feature on MOTD, with full-on Coleman commentary to survive down the years, didn't help.
iirc, that 'Doco' was a late October/early Nov. feature on Coleman's Wed night show Sports Night with Coleman, when we were 9pts clear...2 for a win back then...and in full 'Peps City on blob' mode.
tbh, I think Harry, not being a naturally savvy media person like Shankley - in fact just opposite, got seduced by the glamour and may have even fell for the old - 'now we've finished filming tell us what you really think'
Because he gave chapter on the way we played and discussed the strengths and weaknesses of the team...and virtually named poor old Sandy as the weakest link.
This obvs didn't do Sandys confidence much good and the OG finished it off.

And people wonder why Catterick hated TV and had it banned from Goodison soon after - no surprise really.

Thanks Degsy, good trivia that. Of course, I remember Sportsnight but mostly with Harry Carpenter in the 80s. Although i definitely think Catterick got it badly wrong on the TV front. The likes of Man Utd featured heavily (as expected with all their superstars) and they won 2 leagues, an FA cup and Big Ears in the mid to late 60s, so it didn't do them much harm.

On the points margin, not saying you're definitely wrong, but that seems a bit too big a gap that, especially when Leeds went back on top of the table in the new year, although we had a game or two in hand, but the title was back in their hands by early March (with about 8 games to go!) I know the Blues dropped some points late 69/early 70 and Colin was absent for some games (including the 'sandy' derby) and then Bally was missing for a bit, for gobbing off (as per) but i didn't realise that kind of gap was closed.

Fair points, memory plays tricks, I'll try and dig out some corroboration.
But by the 1st third of the season, we'd only dropped 4pts from a possible 28 (2 for a win)...we were bombing along, all others trailing in our wake.

Actual proof of the points lead not withstanding. The Coleman thing happened much like I discribed.

At the halfway mark of the season on November 22, 1969, it was Everton 35 points and Leeds 30 points.
