It is mixed up. Its like crediting Ray Wilson for winning the league in 69/70.Bobby played with the GV & Roy Vernon ....it's not mixed up - he was the fan's favourite at that time ...... The pocket Dynamo -
Not really the team that won the league in 1963 Catterick admitted it was mainly made up of John Carey team, Collins later in life joked just like Bally I never wanted to leave, yet we were both captains who were both sold .... out of favour with the fanbase ...... Collins had a more influential career at Leeds & Catterick many years later admitted he may have been too hasty letting him go .....It is mixed up. what do you mean ‘not really? Collins left the season before the 62-63 win so the letter writer was talking nonsense. …and the player who won his place Dennis Stevens, proved to be a great addition to the team. An ever present in the 62-63 win. Catt realised, like Ramsey the year before with Ipswich, that work rate and blend was going to be a far bigger factor in football throughout the decade, which was proven correct. Not really the team that won the league in 1963 Catterick admitted it was mainly made up of John Carey team, Collins later in life joked just like Bally I never wanted to leave, yet we were both captains who were both sold .... out of favour with the fanbase ...... Dennis Stevens turned out to be a dogged wing half - at first he was disliked by the fans as their was no comparison to him & Collins the rest of the players were mainly John Carey's team Catterick admitted that later stating he just made them tougher ......Collins was a class international player - Stevens was not ....what do you mean ‘not really? I'm not disputing this, I'm disputing the bizarre claim Collins contributed to the 62-63 title win...which is a bit like saying Gary Lineker was "largely responsible" for us winning the league in 87. ?Dennis Stevens turned out to be a dogged wing half - at first he was disliked by the fans as their was no comparison to him & Collins the rest of the players were mainly John Carey's team Catterick admitted that later stating he just made them tougher ......Collins was a class international player - Stevens was not ....
I see your point he was not involved in the 1963 championship team in fact that is one of the main reason for him regretting us selling him in 1962 - that's what you get when you ask for a small pay rise - it was rumoured as he owned a small holding in Ormskirk - he was even open to John Moore's buying him a couple of pigs to add to his piggery ......both wages & this were turned down.I'm not disputing this, I'm disputing the bizarre claim Collins contributed to the 62-63 title win...which is a bit like saying Gary Lineker was "largely responsible" for us winning the league in 87. ?
Wasn't this photo taken the day after Bernie the Bolts rampage round the facility.Closed we moved to Finch farm - took us ages to get planning permission for houses to be built -

Well he wasn't footballer of the year for Everton, so hardly 'Everton that'. Strachan and McGrath were footballer/player of the year after Alex Ferguson sold them- he was successful enough without them, so as good as they were, it was hardly a bad decision... and we won the Championship and FA Cup in the next few seasons without Collins... He was even more shocked when Catterick told him he was too old, & not in his future plans, & yet he was our most consistent player week in week out - the rest is history as Collins was instrumental in making Leeds a force they became ....
1965 footballer of the year for them - Everton that .....
