He'd have lasted about 5 minutes Joey, it was a bear pit. in my young days there was no netting over the top of the pen, just the railings at the front. We used to get in at about 2oclock and wait for the copper on that side of Gwladys St. to pass the pen on his patrol back towards the middle of the terrace and climb over the fence into the St end. I don't think Bill would have been able to make the climb and I certainly don't think he would have survived with all the hard knocks in the pen.
