Nov 4, 1997 -Mervyn Day joined Howard Kendalls backroom staff as EFC goalkeeping coach. Day had been the youngest goalie to play in a FA Cup Final with West Ham in 1975 & is the only goalie to win PFA Young Player of the Year. He left EFC in May 1998 to become Charlton asst boss.
I really thought he was going to be a long term first choice when we brought him in.
