Nov 4, 1961 - Everton 3-0 Tottenham Hotspur. In front of a crowd of more than 54000 fans at Goodison, Harry Catterick’s Blues beat the reigning FA Cup winners, Spurs, 3-0 with 2 goals from Frank Wignall & 1 from Billy Bingham.
…I‘d guess that’s Penny Lane where I scored plenty of goals. I think that’s John Benninson on the back right & Tom Saunders 3rd from right. I knew both, Tom managed England Schoolboys and went on to be Bob Paisley’s right hand man during Reds successful era.
Nov 4, 1997 -Mervyn Day joined Howard Kendalls backroom staff as EFC goalkeeping coach. Day had been the youngest goalie to play in a FA Cup Final with West Ham in 1975 & is the only goalie to win PFA Young Player of the Year. He left EFC in May 1998 to become Charlton asst boss.
