Old Everton Pictures

Scorer of one of the "best??" own goals I've ever had the unfortunate pleasure to witness!
Yet he did score for us against them he and Mick Lyons would have run through brick walls for our club in that era
Sandy had a powerful shot, played in goal centre forward it was a belting Diving header v that lot the year we went on to win the league they beat us 5-0 the week after UNT went to Anfield and hammered Liverpool 4-1lol

In present day terms what would that team have been worth.o_O
Think of a figure. An unrealistically high figure.
And you still wouldn't be close.

That squad was literally the footballing equivalent of Viagara. Pure class in every position, with an almost equally gifted player in waiting.
There was class and steel throughout that squad, and all exceptionally fit, and committed to the cause.

Pundits made me howl with laughter when they used to label the 'diamond' style formation as the Murinho plan. Did they not see the first introduction to that plan over 40 years earlier when Harry Catterick had this very squad playing it. To perfection. With the emphasis on 'PURR'.
Silky smooth, but it could only look 'effortless', because of the skill and fitness and organisation.

That squad nor Harry EVER received the recognition they deserved.
Gems, to a man.
