He was a great player - made a certain John Stones look bog average - A Captain of the England under 23s, never capped for the full cap - a joke, a former forward who had legs for the experienced Labone to sweep up at the back great in the air too he wore the no 10 shirt but played in defence - but could stride out to join the midfield & score not just from corners, but in play with the midfield -
He was the type of player if injured -The Everton team & fans realised how vital he really was ..... pure class came out of the youth team set up where he played as a forward -
