Interesting fact of the day 3 - 15th April 1961 - Johnny Carey’s last match as manager was a 5-1 win at home to Cardiff. He left his post the same day.
Apr 15, 1961 - Just hours after Everton won 5-1 vs Cardiff City to go 4th, chairman Sir John Moores sacked EFC manager Johnny Carey in the back of a taxi. 4th place wasn’t good enough for Moores, he wanted EFC to be 1st.
