Vernon had the knack of nearly always sending the keeper the wrong way only ever missed one penalty for the Blues... a scuffed shot at Spurs -
The GV reckoned that if he had never smoked, he would have been better than Greaves & Law - he stated he was so fast over 12 yards if he had not smoked he would have been like that all over the pitch - started off as a winger - he took pens at school never missed many then either
