Everton right-back focus: Neil McDonald.Signed from Newcastle United in 1988, Neil was a good player but had a tough act to follow, in Gary Stevens (he lacked the former’s athleticism and pace). Played in midfield, on occasion, & scored a couple of excellent long-range goals -

Shocking manager for us, down to League 2 in one season then sacked. Had more clubs than Tiger Woods. Enjoyed himself off the pitch though, tripping the light fantastic along the Golden Mile. When it came to managerial work he was as useful as a derailed tram.

Everton right-back focus: Alan Harper.Mr Versatile - Alan had spells as a right-back, notably in 1986/87 with Gary Stevens unavailable. Two periods at EFC with 198 starts and 43 sub outings. Highlights include a goal at Stamford Bridge in 1987 & a Merseyside derby equaliser -

Never overlook his goal for us in the semi final against Wednesday at Villa Park 1986.
