Old Everton Pictures

The late great Jimmy Gabby Gabriel - he played most positions, a hard player some say sold too soon -

I remember that day very well, winning 3-0 then waiting for the passing Red fans coming through Stanley Park and asking them, innocently, how they had got on! That 3-0 win for us was the first of 3-0 wins in the FA cup that year the others were against Coventry City and Bedford, in fact the only goals we conceded in the cup that year were in the final v Sheffield Wed.
Remember leaning on the goal post during the Bedford game.

Colchester came to goodison on a high after beating Leeds in the previous round
There were glimpses of the Everton from last season this being one of them games
That team was so special, the football was telepathic, we went to games to think how many will we win by today home & away - Last season it was hard - it was I wonder if we will score a goal - The Premier League is harder, different era etc though but that midfield was wonderful to watch - one forward two driving wingers = goals galore - plus the defence could play football too - John Hurst just burst forwards to score too ....happy days .....
