Got to that game late and had to line up at the end of a very long queue to get into my usual spec in the Paddock via Bullens Road. I was about ten yards from the turnstile when we heard the dreaded bell go to signify the Paddock was full. I left that queue and literally flung myself into the front of the one for the Street end shouting like a madman "stop pushing in" in the direction of all those who like me had been locked out of the Paddock. I got in and almost immediately the gates closed as the ground was full.

1997 and Howard Kendall goes back to his former club, Sheffield United, to sign Carl Tiler (L) and Mitch Ward. Both were much maligned at EFC, although I recall Tiler being steady enough in a very difficult season.
