Spot on - his father worked in the point of Ayr colliery now closed - Roy went back there when famous to award miners at functions etc -
We should have signed him first time around - the fable goes that our scout & Blackburn's scout scouting him - approached him & offered him terms - Roy stated his mum & dad would have to sign the paper work - our scout is still in the Welsh hills looking for the house .....he got there 2 hours after Blackburn had clinched the deal .... an Everton That moment .....
He had smoked since the age of 11 - the GV stated he would have been better than Law & Greaves as he smoked 80 - 100 per day ...

Only player who could smoke in the showers after a game ....

Official attendance for that Arsenal match was 48,715. As far as you can believe it! My dad was let in for free .... as were a number of other kids at a gate in the corner of the Main Stand and the Street End.
