Sadly only big Nev still around.
I used to be really envious of Howard Kendall. We were roughly the same age and we both played the same position, slight difference in skill levels though. I went watching Everton in a pre-season friendly at Rochdale in about 1970. Howard came over to take a throw in right in front of me. I noticed a bald patch emerging at the back of his head. I wasn’t quite as jealous after that.1984, Howard Kendall opened a dressing room window at Stoke City and the noise of 10,000 travelling Toffees poured in. Everton went on to win the game and the FA Cup. Must admit his hair is thinning a bit here @degsy lol -

Yep,never happened for him here unfortunately, the Catt fell into the same trap with big Bernie the bolt from Walsall tooI used to be really envious of Howard Kendall. Incidentally a guy I played in the same team as had the game of his life that night and gave Labone and Hurst a really torrid time. Harry Catterick must have like what he saw and he signed him a week or two later. Steve Mellodew, ring any bells ? He was a stalwart of the Central League team but never made the first team.
He was a combative player who put himself about and always gave 100% but he lacked the pace to succeed at top level. A poor man’s David Speedie.Yep,never happened for him here unfortunately, the Catt fell into the same trap with big Bernie the bolt from Walsall too

Remember that Fawlty Towers episode when Cleese told his staff not to mention the War when the German guests where at the dining table. That same principle applies to mentioning that League cup final replay in 1977 in Rogers company. Surprised he brought it up in this article actually lol
