Hi joey,

lots of information there. That game was a real sickener but it is interesting that Labone actually thought
that the team was brittle. City, for example, and especially Colin Bell always seemed to be stronger.
It was the fact he got injured & Roger Kenyon had been 12th man all season in the FA CUP - Catterick was ill via a virus in Greece in midweek & Wilf Dixon changed the substitute - Sandy Brown instead of Kenyon - vital when marking John Toshack - Joe Royle even offered to play there to stop Toshack's aerial ability - to go out of two big competitions in 4-5 days was a hammer blow the team just fell apart IMO ....

Plus Harry Catterick was far worse health wise - Bally picked up an injury & was foolishly sold - harry lost his Midas touch & stayed on far too long .... he broke that team up - some posters comment that HK was his last big useful signing ....

We were weakened tremendously ....
