1966 Gabby looks out numbered here it led to the first Wednesday goal - - in fact we start that game with only a midfield two with Colin Harvey playing further forwards - they dropped Harvey back a bit in the 2nd half as we were being overrun in midfield in the first half - seem to do the trick - just -
Disaster the rebound drops to Wednesdays David Ford no 2 goes in - I was crying at this point aged 11, in disbelief on the B&W TV my late father came in off shift work an avid blue been to most games in that FA Cup run gave his ticket to my older brother who was 16 years old in there with his cousins the Wednesday end..... - My Late Fathers brother got one for him as he lived in London - he stated calm down we will come back & win this ...... I could not believe the turn around I was jumping all over the house......
The first goal we let in the 1966 FA Cup run - Westy can't get to Jim McCalliog snapshot - that guy was on 4 in a bed Channel 4 show as a hotelier - a while back a right miserable sod he was -
Trebicock nails this past Springett right into the corner for the equaliser - only one winner for us after that goal - note Labby grounded as he had come up for the free kick - the greatest comeback in a final ever -
1971 / 1972 First Division - Manchester United 0 Everton 0 United's Denis Law beats Everton goalkeeper Gordon West at Old Trafford, but fails to score - I set off for this game with my family & my uncle's car just along the east Lancashire road stated it's ok lads the car passed the MOT that am, it's going well, and a minute later we were sat in the central reservation his brake pipes had burst missed a dull game by all accounts but sat hours to be picked up was no joy either -
16th April 1977. Everton winger Duncan McKenzie battling with Derby County defender Colin Todd, at the Baseball Ground in a 3-2 win for the Blues -In which he scored one of them -
I read an interview way back in a book with Becky Valentine - He & Gordon Lee just never got on he was scathing of Gordon Lee who he rated as a lower division manager, as the team were capable of winning things he was just not up to it dour defensive etc - to me he was a fancy Dan luxury player who had loads of talent, but was not a team player - loved him on his day again smoking 60 cigarettes a day he admitted it did him no good.....
He is still a great Evertonian though -
Gordon Lee instead of congratulating Duncan for the goal below which won us the game - Duncan reckons he rollicked him - he was dropped him a lot unnecessary according to Duncan -
