1985 - Southampton 2-3 Everton. A trip to the Dell turned into a 5 goal thriller for the Blues, as they came away with all 3pts & maintained their place in 6th in the table. Gary Lineker, Adrian Heath & Trevor Steven all scored for EFC in the win.
1983 - West Ham United 2-2 Everton. The Blues travelled to Upton Park for a Milk Cup 4th round tie & came away with a draw, taking the Hammers back to Goodison for a replay. Peter Reid & Kevin Sheedy were on the scoresheet for EFC.
1944 - Mike Trebilcock was born. The Cornwall-born striker scored 5 goals in 15 appearances for EFC over 3 seasons at the club, 1965-68, but amazingly, 2 of these goals were in EFC's thrilling 1966 FA Cup Final 3-2 win over Sheffield Wednesday.
1931 - Everton 9-2 Leicester City. A huge win at home for the table topping Blues, as Dixie Dean scored 4, Tommy Johnson & Tommy White both scored 2 & Alan Clark scored 1, delighting the fans at Goodison.
1997 - EFC fans’ groups announced there would be a sit-in protest against Peter Johnson’s running of EFC, to be held after tomorrows home game vs Spurs. Hundreds of leaflets exposing the strength of feeling against Johnson had been printed for distribution at the game.
1963 - Glasgow Rangers 1-3 Everton. The English Champions travelled to Ibrox to face the Scottish Champions in the 1st leg of the British Championship friendly series & were victorious. A crowd of 64000 fans saw Alex Young, Alex Scott & Derek Temple score for EFC.
1919 - Harry Catterick was born. The legendary former EFC player & manager played for EFC from 1945-1952, scoring 23 goals in 71 appearances. He was EFC boss from 1961-1973, winning 2 league titles & 1 FA Cup.
1985 - Chelsea 2-2 Everton. The Blues secured a draw away at Chelsea in a Milk Cup 4th round tie, taking the Londoners back to Goodison for a replay. Kevin Sheedy & Paul Bracewell were the EFC scorers.
Mick Meagan was a league title winner with the Toffees in 1963 & had 12 years at the club. He also played for/managed his national team. He passed away in November 2022. As his health failed, he penned this tribute to his home city & his many friends.
