2002 - It was announced that EFC were taking Stirling Albion’s 18yr old keeper, Iain Turner on a weeks trial at Bellefield the following wk. Turner later signed for EFC in a 3rd choice keeper role. Infamously he was sent off 9 mins into his EFC 1st team debut in Feb 2006.
1983 - Everton 1-1 Aston Villa. A home draw for the Blues against the previous season’s European Super Cup winners. Andy Gray scored his first goal for Everton, ironically vs one of his former clubs.
1977 - Everton 3-0 Middlesbrough. Gordon Lee’s Blues’ great run of form continued with a comprehensive Goodison win over ‘Boro. Two goals from Bob Latchford & one from Mick Buckley secured the victory for EFC.
