1978 - Everton 1-1 Tottenham Hotspur. A draw for Gordon Lee’s Blues at home to Spurs concluded EFC’s 1978 calendar year. Mick Lyons scored EFCs only goal, which was cancelled out by Colin Lee’s equaliser for Spurs. The draw kept EFC in 2nd place in the league table.
1972 -Daniel Amokachi was born. After starring for Nigeria in the 1994 World Cup, EFC signed him for a then-club record transfer fee of £3m. He went on to play a crucial role for EFC & became a cult favourite scoring 2 goals for EFC in the 1995 FA Cup semi win vs Spurs.

In 6 years at Everton, Val Harris the Irish international, scored only once, in 1912 against Notts County. He was promised a piano from one fan if he scored & the Liverpool Echo even minted him a medal to commemorate the goal, as well as publishing the cartoon below.
