My first hero. My first game saw him for Blackburn at Goodison scoring a hat trick. We went out and bought him and scored a hat trick on his debut.

My older brother stated to me the Catt bought him as every time we played Blackburn - he hurt us he recalled to me an Fa cup game at ewood in the snow last five minutes and the snow started to stick on the pitch - someone did a back pass it held up in the snow late on, and who was on it in a flash to thump it home Pickering - My late father stated to my brother if we have any sense we would sign him!
we did - started off as a full back converted to a free scoring centre forward for Blackburn - his strike rate for us was remarkable - sadly 1966 that knee injury which was not fixable then maybe now? - ruined his career his record of goalscoring is up there with many Everton top no 9s!

Every cloud and all that, Mike Trebilcock taking his place.
You know, without me looking I honestly cannot recall actually seeing Trebilcock play for us either before or after the 66 final.
I seen him play once away at Wolves in 1967 - just a tidy player as you say a savior on that memorable day that will never be forgotten!
