In March 1886, snow threatened the Toffees’ fixture against Stanley, at Anfield. An appeal for 100 local residents to help some players clear the snow off the pitch had unintended consequences, as described in Cricket & Football Field & the Daily Post.

1977 - Everton 1-1 Bolton Wanderers. In this League Cup Semi Final 1st Leg & in front of a record Goodison attendance for a League Cup game of 54032 fans, Duncan McKenzie scored for EFC in the first of a two-legged semi final.
2005 - The Daily Post tracked down Bill Kenwright's friend, Chris Samuelson in Hong Kong to ask him why the investment he had promised for EFC from the Fortress Sports Fund had yet to materialise. Samuelson claimed the money would be in the bank 'by the end of the week'.
1988 - Norwich City 0-3 Everton. A good away win at Carrow Road for EFC, with 2 goals from Graeme Sharp & 1 from Adrian Heath lifting EFC to 3rd place in the league table.
1971 - Everton 3-0 Chelsea. A big home win for the reigning Champions over Chelsea. Goals from Joe Royle, Jimmy Husband & Henry Newton sealed the win for EFC.
1977- Ipswich Town 2-0 Everton. With Billy Bingham fired earlier in the wk, EFC caretaker boss Steve Burtenshaw's 1st game in charge ended in a loss to Bobby Robson's Ipswich at Portman Road. Ironically behind the scenes EFC were trying & failing to secure Robson as boss.
