Everton first used Bellefield for training 20 years ago, when they leased the ground. Before they decided to spend £100,000 on these improvements, they negotiated to buy Bellefield three years ago at a cost of £30,000. It is money well spent.”
England players used it -Workers on the new buildings at Bellefield stop work to take in the spectacle of the England squad training for their friendly with Poland, in their preparation for the forthcoming World Cup in July. Captain Bobby Moore is in the foreground, while Everton’s Ray Wilson is third from right in the line led by Nobby Stiles. Alan Ball, still a Blackpool player, is in the centre. The England manager Alf Ramsey later described the Bellefield training complex as “one of the finest I have seen anywhere in the world.” -
