1922 - Everton 6-2 Huddersfield Town. A Good Friday afternoon league victory at Goodison for the Blues, with the win lifting EFC out of the relegation zone. Hat tricks from Sam Chedgzoy & Bobby Irvine sealed the win.
1999 - Everton 2-0 Coventry City. A non-televised Sunday game for the Blues, moved to Sunday to avoid clashing with the Grand National the previous day. Two goals from Kevin Campbell secured victory for EFC.
1973 - It was announced that Harry Catterick had departed as EFC boss after 12yrs to take up a non-exec EFC role. An all-time great, he won 2 titles & 1 FA Cup. The reality was Catterick continued to oversee 1st team affairs with Tommy Eggleston until the end of season.

1931, Gwynfor Lewis. One of a number of pupils at Bangor’s Friars school to enjoy a career in sport. Gwyn had to settle for being understudy to Dave Hickson for much of his time at EFC. He moved on to Chesterfield FC .
Ted Critchley. Ted joined EFC from hometown club Stockport County & succeeded Sam Chedgzoy. League winner in 1928 & 1932. Unlucky to lose out to Albert Geldard in the 1933 FA Cup Final team selection. 230 EFC appearances, 42 goals. Became a publican.

Sam Chedgzoy.A bona-fide Everton great, the Ellesmere Port man had a career straddling WW1. Won the league in 1914/15 & later mentored a young Dixie Dean. Settled in Canada in later life. His son was on EFC’s books.
George Beare.Arrived at EFC via Southampton & Blackpool FC in 1910. 118 EFC appearances & 19 goals at EFC. Described as: ‘An expert card manipulator, a trick cyclist of no little repute and an excellent billiards player.
