The football was dire at times under Billy - lost the league the Everton way!Billy Butler was the announcer at the ground in those days. I will never forget what he said when the final whistle blew in that game: 'I don't believe it' (ever before Victor Meldrew made the phrase popular!). Nothing else after that , just silence. If I recall correctly, we were 2-0 up, and just fell apart. Got absolutely battered in the away game, and they still got relegated...
