David Lawson!! Never gets a mention these days but a solid keeper in the mid 70s. Succeeded by George Wood then Séamus McDonagh, before Big Nev joined in 81.

Séamus was in goal for my first ever trip to England at Old Trafford in October 1980.

Just 15 yrs old the cops detained me for about 45 minutes at the dock!!! I know the Troubles were going on, but surely they could see that a 15 year old with a RBJ and EFC scarf was not a terror threat!!

Got to OT in time but bad result. It was Birtles' home debut and he did everything but score.

Was it not Jim McDonagh - the smallest keeper i have ever seen went on to become a goal keeping coach as IMO he was too small as a keeper - David Lawson was so expensive - we could have had a certain Peter Shilton for half his price ?

15th September 1962 Jimmy Gabriel leaps to score with a thundering header at Bolton to seal a 2-0 victory - my first game to see the blues aged six - sat on a crash barrier with my late father and friends also my older brother about 8 of us in a Ford Transit van sat on beer crates ..... like a scene out of the GV documentary -
